As you know Part D formularies changed at the first of year, so if any of your patients are still confused you might need to give them a little help finding out if their medications are still covered, if a change has occured they could have to pay a higher price for their meds. At Walmart,Kmart,PriceChoper and Hyvee now have programs that charge less than what Part D requires patients to pay, at kmart if you inform them they will give the patient the discounted price even if they have Part D

I am looking for help with insulin during the doughnut. I have one patient that uses 8 bottles a month and can't afford it.

Has anyone come across Medicare D donut-hole coverage for Abilify? Bristol-Myers, of course, has no program for it. Also, has anyone else noticed that patients are reaching the donut-hole a LOT earlier this year? I had one who hit it in March!

The price of medicines that seniors take has increased drastically since the implementation of Part D. Also, factor in the 30 - 50% increase in Part D premiums from 2007 to 2008 that some of the PDPs charge. I thought BMS was one of the pharm. companies that was taking a look at their PAPs for when patients fall in the doughnut hole. Call BMS to see if they offer vouchers for Abilify.

:x I contacted Bristol-Myers Squibb to see if they offered Abilify vouchers and they told me to contact PPARX.org on the matter. When I did so, I was told that they'd have to approach the situation step-by-step for each patient in order to find out. I finally contacted our clinic's BMS rep and was told that they do have Abilify vouchers, but they're only for patients who do NOT have Medicare, Medicare D, or Medicaid. So they're pretty much useless. Patients who are taking Abilify are out of luck if they reach the donut hole.

As patient advocates, let's start a letter writing campaign to the pharm. companies that do not provide medication assistance to seniors that fall in the doughnut hole.
