Hello Everyone,

My name is Andrew Pippa, and I am a Drug Assistance Coordinator for a non-profit hospital. My role takes me mainly to Outpatient Oncology, where I assist patients who are uninsured or undersinsured get their chemotherapies at no charge. I work close with the Oncology Patient Navigator and Oncology Social Worker, who keep me apprised of new patients coming in for treatment by way of referrals from specialists. I also have been handed the task of approving prior-authorizations for nonformulary chemo meds. I check their insurance status before the medication is ordered through our pharmacy. If their insurance does not cover, then Needy Meds comes to the rescue.

Thank you and hope to be of assistance to all, as well as learn something new to improve my services.

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I too work in an outpatient Oncology setting for patients who are underinsured or have no insurance. Needymeds is wonderful - don't know what I'd do without their services. I get most of my referrals from the physicians or their nurses treating the patients. Do you assist patients with finding co-pay programs as well? I'm finding that to be more and more a part of my everyday job description! Glad to help these patients though. Bye

marie, hope you are still in the forum. i've been unable to log-in through work (firewall) so I'm re-connecting at home. sorry for not keeping in touch. if you are still here, i work with a social worker to get co-pay assistance. getting more and more requests for these, as patients have had to keep their premiums down by having higher deductibles, or their meds are really expensive, thus the copay is higher. talk to you soon. andrew
